Therapy Approach
I take an integrative approach to psychotherapy and my goal is to work with clients to meet their individual needs. I use psychodynamic, emotion-focused therapy (EFT both for individual and couples therapy), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) approaches to care. I believe my work is to not only help clients build skills to manage difficult symptoms but also to help clients become psychologically, socially, and spiritually whole persons. I believe that people are shaped by relationships, whether past or present, and that powerful change is facilitated within the context of relationship. My hope is to provide empirically validated therapies coupled with genuine empathy, respect, and empowerment. I also enjoy working with couples who have trouble communicating, resolving conflict, or restoring breaches of trust. Together we will learn about patterns, triggers, negative thoughts and cycles, feelings, past and present attachment injuries, and how they affect the relationship. My goal in couples therapy is to help the partners create security with each other and feel greater connection and intimacy.
