Dr. Seo has received clinical training in university counseling centers, private practice clinics, as well as general outpatient clinics where he has worked with child, adult, and family clients to help manage symptoms/distress related to family of origin difficulties, career/academic goal navigation, risk/suicidality, identity development, interpersonal challenges, self-esteem as well as general stress management.

Therapy Approach

I take an integrative approach to treatment by utilizing humanistic and interpersonal theories in my conceptualization. I facilitate exploration of clients’ past and current relationships as well as their current cognitions of themselves and the world. I strive to view clients’ presenting problems from a lens that takes into careful consideration multi-cultural and systemic variables that may be impacting their overall functioning. Using the therapeutic relationship as the foundation of my work, I collaborate with clients in identifying goals and working toward meaningful change in a manner that utilizes their strengths and reflects their resilience. My therapeutic approach also incorporates CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) interventions to help clients effectively improve their coping strategies.

Fun Facts

I am a passionate basketball fan and when time permits, I enjoy watching NBA games. I also appreciate the beauty of nature and at the same time, find ways to spend time at home in a productive manner with my family. The one fun fact that I surprise many people with is that my family (briefly) raised a monkey as a pet during my childhood!
