Biography

Anna is a licensed therapist from Texas. From an early age, she knew that her heart was to help people. Despite a stigma in Asian culture against counseling, she knew through her own personal change that she benefited from counseling. That experience inspired her to walk in an empathic journey with others and help them, the same way she was helped. Growing up as a TCK (Third Culture Kid), moving from country to country, she always struggled to answer questions about where she was from. Anna was born in Korea but received most of her education living in the U.S. and spent her teen years in Taiwan. She studied art, then counseling, for her masters degree in Dallas. In recent years, she lived in Jordan and worked as the guidance counselor at an international school and assisted students with special needs. Anna has experience working with clients from all over the world. Her clinical training involved probation clients, cancer outpatients, homeless people, refugees, and expats of all ages. She also has experience in marital counseling, play therapy, and addiction counseling. Anna primarily focuses on multicultural, identity issues, transitions, trauma, grief, anxiety and depression. She also provides faith-based counseling to individuals seeking to incorporate spirituality into the therapeutic process.

Therapy Approach

My therapy is holistic and integrative. Since every client is unique, coming from all backgrounds and life experiences, I adapt each session to the wellbeing of the individual, often using CBT, family-based therapy, and gestalt techniques. Everyone is on a journey, and being able to be a part of that journey, and walk along side my clients, is truly a privilege. I try to meet them where they are, listening to understand. I know this world can be lonely and everyone is fighting a fight. My goal is to listen and guide my clients through self discovery and healing to become the best versions of themselves that they aspire to be. I am a firm believer in growth and improvement through better communication. I work to build a rapport and collaborate with clients in creating treatment goals and plans. I believe progress happens when there’s a trusting, two-way relationship that seeks to work towards that goal. I hope to bring more understanding, confidence, and freedom to embrace oneself and what life has to offer. I’m here to walk with you.
